Zippy Roadside, Inc. has joined the California Adopt-a-Highway program. We are excited to announce that we have our first clean up day for our adoption site.
The first clean up day is scheduled for Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 9 AM Pacific Time.
We are looking for interested community members to sign up and volunteer your time to keep the community beautiful and help us ensure the safety of our roads. If you are interested in volunteering please email us at info@joinzippy.com to let us know.
More information will be provided to each volunteer once you sign up. We will be providing all the necessary PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) as well as the necessary training in order to keep us safe and keep the travelling public safe.
We look forward to seeing how many volunteers we get! Don't worry if you cannot make this one, we will have more cleanup days throughout the year. Check our Newsroom for future dates.
Our sponsored adoption site starts on the intersection of Main Street and Fairgrounds Rd in Susanville, CA to the intersection of U.S. 395 and Richmond Road in Johnstonville, CA. (See below)
If this is your first time volunteering, please pay attention.
You will need to watch a Caltrans safety video first. You can click here to see the safety video on YouTube or go here https://youtu.be/I3Mmhz_frM0?t=777 if the link does not work. Give yourself a little time, this video is about 15 minutes long, you won't need to watch the full video, the important part for you starts at 12 minutes and 57 seconds.
Information about the actual day of the cleaning will be provided to you once you sign up. We will discuss carpooling, conduct a safety briefing, and hand out PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) on the day of the cleaning. Show up in long pants and footwear with decent ankle support (This is outlined in the video). The clean up is expected to take a few hours, and the weather is expected to be cold, bring plenty of water and warm weather clothing.
This is expected to be light work with more hands that step up and volunteer!
